ZMD Corporation is a small business. It was founded in 1991 to provide
advanced engineering analyses, research & development, and
independent expert reviews in the area of pipeline and PV&P structural
integrity, leak-before-rupture, fitness-for-service, defect damage
assessment, fracture, fatigue, corrosion, failure prevention, safety,
reliability, plant life extension, and materials performance evaluation for
components in energy related systems. These include nuclear and fossil
power plants, oil & gas pipelines, aerospace structures, transportation
systems, pressure vessels, pipelines, and petrochemical processing
equipment.
ZMD founder is a recognized expert in ductile fracture mechanics and was
instrumental in its development and practical application to engineering
structures. He is the author of Ductile Fracture Handbook, a three-volume
set published in 1989-91. The handbook contained advanced solutions for
pressure vessels & piping, pressure tanks, and piping components.
ZMD staff and consultants have taken a leadership position in developing
and applying advanced methods for failure prevention of structures and
defining the safe operating life of critical mechanical components. ZMD
founder has pioneered in the development of leak-before-break
technology and was a member of two senior peer review panels for the
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
ZMD founder was a leading contributor to ASME Code activities directed
toward establishing methods and procedures for structural integrity and
safe operation of nuclear pressure vessels & piping. He pioneered novel
fracture mechanics methods and procedures that appear in Section XI of
the ASME B&PV Code. He was a senior consultant for USNRC's Intl. Piping
Integrity Research program, oil & gas pipeline integrity management
reviews for US DOT, and principal investigator for numerous EPRI
projects. He was extensively involved in the 1980s with the evaluation
and interpretation of the Degraded Piping Program results.
